Description
Golf Solitaire is one of the several types of Solitaire card game that requires only a few minutes to learn but takes a lot of practice and luck to win. It is played using a 52-card deck of standard playing cards. The reason it's called Golf Solitaire is that, like in an actual golf game, you vie for the lowest score possible. If Golf proves to be too hard to play, there are other much easier variations available like Easy Golf and Easy Tripeaks. Goal The primary goal in the game is to stack up all cards in proper order to the Foundations from the Tableau. The Stock does not need to be emptied in order to achieve this. Layout There are three parts in the game’s layout: Tableau - This is where a lot of movements occur. It is made up of 7 unmarked columns containing piles of faced-up cards. Stock - This is found below the Tableau and contains a stack of face-down squared cards. These cards are considered as reserves that come into play as the game unfolds. Foundation - This is located at the right side of the Stock. Cards that are put into play from the Stock are placed here and spread out horizontally. Gameplay At the beginning of the game, all of the 7 Tableau columns will receive 5 face-up cards each - totalling 35 all in all. Another card is dealt on the Foundation in face up position next. All the remaining 16 cards will then be piled face-down and squared into the Stock. In Golf Solitaire, the bottom-most card in every pile is the only one exposed. Any exposed card can be placed on the Foundation during the game as long as it is either next to or prior in rank to the current top card in this section. This process goes on and on as the game carries on. Another important rule in Golf is that ranks cannot be looped over - this means that you cannot place an Ace on top of a King and vice versa. Also, once a card is placed in the Foundation it cannot be sent back to the Tableau. Once the player is out of available moves, a card can be taken from the Stock and placed on the right-most part of the Foundation. This opens up new movement possibilities. When the Stock has run out of cards but there are several cards still left in the Tableau, the game is lost.
